Majmu’a-e Nasr-e Sir Syed, the complete articles and prose of Sir Syed, is a compilation in 20 volumes and captures 1,416 articles in 9,084 pages. Earlier, only 404 articles were compiled by Ismail Panipati during 1960–1965 from Lahore. Therefore, 1,012 additional articles have been extracted from the primary sources. The first article was published in the year 1842 and the last in 1898, covering a vast array of subjects.
Tafseer-e Quran: Sir Syed had written the Tafseer of 16 paras that were published during 1890–1895. After a century, it was re-published by Khuda Bakhsh Library, Patna in 1995. There was a profound demand to explore this Tafseer, and so it has been included in this collection.
Khutbat-e Ahmadiya: One of the most significant works of Sir Syed on Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is also included in this project. Sir Syed’s reply to Sir William Muir’s book was published first in English from London in 1870 and then in Urdu in 1887.
We were indeed fortunate to celebrate the Bi-centenary, the 200th birth anniversary of Sir Syed in 2017, and the centenary of AMU in 2020. Yet the need for such a comprehensive compilation remained of utmost importance for everyone. One must study the primary source, for they convey the very essence of any individual. The lectures, letters, articles and books are inclined towards a subjective approach. These volumes are indispensable, at least for every Alig as a student of the Aligarh Movement, and for all non-Aligs who wish to understand the Vision and Mission of Sir Syed.
