Virasat-e Lucknow : Photo & Painting Exhibition

World Heritage Day is being observed on the 18th of April, to spread awareness of the importance of the diversity of cultural heritage and preserve it for future generations. In 1982, UNESCO’s General Conference established 18th April as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, which in many countries is also celebrated as World Heritage Day. According to UNESCO, “Heritage is our legacy, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our natural and cultural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration”.

Winners of the Day

Amar Ujala Foundation organized the ‘Photo & Painting Exhibition’ at the One Awadh Centre Mall to create awareness about this special day with the people of Lucknow. Ajaish Jaiswal, the master photographer of Lucknow exhibited his unique photographs of Lucknow on this occasion. He is of the opinion that sincere efforts are required to preserve and promote the heritage of Lucknow. His wife, Sangita Jaiswal was also present at the exhibition.

Famous historian Ravi Bhatt was the Chief Guest of the day and he emphasized the need to make the youth aware of our heritage. Heritage is the basic essence of our Culture and such efforts are very important, shared by Dr. Sanjeev Kishore Gautam, Dean of Arts College was the Guest of Honour. Students learned from these dignitaries and also received their certificates from them.
